Laurance Gray Hause

Laurance Gray Hause ("Larry") was born on February 2, 1932 to Robert Alvin Hause and Ida Myra Gray Hause in Fort Lupton, Colorado. He grew up on a farm between Brighton and Fort Lupton.

Larry graduated from Independence Grade School, Brighton High School , and the University of Colorado. After college, he worked for Westinghouse Electric Corp. for a year, spent two years in the U.S. Army Artillery, and then moved to Littleton, Colorado to work for the Martin Company for a year. After some post graduate work at the University of Colorado, he went to work for the U.S. Department of Commerce at the National Bureau of Standards in Boulder, where he worked until retirement in 1988 . On July 16, 1963, he married the love of his life, Ruth Bea Newell. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the First Presbyterian Church of Boulder.

In retirement, Larry spent his time cultivating his gardens, cooking delicious meals, drinking cappuccinos with his wife, and being a great friend, husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Robert Douglas Hause. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Bea Hause, a son, William Douglas Hause, daughter-in-law Roberta Sue Huntington Hause, and daughter Amy Joanne Hause, as well as three grandchildren, Benjamin, Anthony and Gillian.

The focus of Larry's life was to be a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered fondly and admiringly for his generous and self-deprecating sense of humor, for having a positive attitude and never complaining in the face of personal adversity and pain, and for treating those around him with dignity, compassion and kindness. He will be deeply missed.

A graveside service will be held at 10am Friday, Oct. 14th at Hillside Cemetery in Fort Lupton. A memorial service will be held at 2pm, Sunday, Oct.16th in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 1820 15th St., Boulder. Contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Boulder Deacon's Fund or the Salvation Army.
