Paul Hubert Briggs, 74, of Loveland died April 25, 2005, in Scottsdale, Ariz. 

He was born April 6, 1931, in Fort Lupton to Raymond Robert Briggs and Doris Chloe Briggs. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1949. 

He went to work for Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph in 1950, and in June 1951 he joined the U.S. Navy. He served aboard the USS Uvalde for four years. After he was discharged, he returned to work for Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph. 

He married Shirley Ann Kaser in June 1955, and they had three children. They divorced in 1969. In 1971 he married Sandra Sue Thompson in Greeley and adopted her two children. They divorced in 1985. In 1994 he married Betty Jean Glaser in Loveland. They lived in Greeley until 1999, then moved to Loveland. 

Mr. Briggs was a member of the First Christian Church in Loveland. He was also a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, of which he was president for four years. He was a member of Amico Club in Greeley and Sunrise Sams Camping Club of Greeley. 

He is survived by his wife, Betty; three sons, Jeffery of Gilbert, Ariz., Lon of Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, and Rodney of Northglenn; two daughters, Peggy and husband Ken Beckedahl of Kellogg, Idaho, and Joely and husband Doug Carney of Loveland; three stepchildren, Shirley and husband Gary Kenfield of Arvada, Douglas Glaser of Burbank, Calif., and Gloria Maas of Greeley; brother Bob Briggs and wife Dorothy of Brighton; and sister Jeanne and husband Tom Bale of Ridgecrest, Calif.; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant children, and a sister, Chloe Kipper of Riverside, Calif. 

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church. Inurnment will be at Loveland Burial Park.
