Obituary for Shirley Wagy
Shirley Jean Wagy, 80, of Greeley passed away at home Sunday, April 19, 2015, after battling cancer.
Shirley was born March 20, 1935, in Denver to Fredrick and Anne (Hatfield) Henry. She graduated from Brighton High School and attended Colorado State University. She married Harold “Butch” Wagy on April 29, 1959, in Brighton. They lived in Goodland, Kan. and Wapaheton, N.D. before permanently residing in Greeley in 1974. Butch passed away on Oct. 18, 2009.
Shirley enjoyed going to garage sales, playing bingo and playing cards with her dear friends Sue and Evva Lou. She was a devout Catholic and her faith played a very important part of her life.
She is survived by her five children, Mark and Lisa Wagy of Scottsdale, Ariz. Mitch and Melody Wagy of Greeley, Matthew and Cady Wagy of Greeley, Shaun and Derek Barvoets of Windsor, and Michael and Amber Wagy of West Linn, Ore.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick and Anne Henry, and her husband, Harold “Butch” Wagy.
Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2015, at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 1250 Main St., Windsor. Lunch and Fellowship will follow. Inurnment at Fort Logan National Cemetery will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northern Colorado or Breast Friends in care of Marks Funeral & Cremation Service, 9293 Eastman Park Drive, Windsor, 80550. Online condolences may be made at www.marksfuneralservice.com.
