Wilbur D. Packard
Ex-Brighton resident, 79
Wilbur D. Packard, a former Brighton resident, died May 28 in Cheyenne. He was 79.
A funeral service was June 1 at Brighton United Methodist Church. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery in Brighton.
Packard was born Sept. 12, 1915, in Bashor. On Sept. 20, 1939, he married Dorothy Heaton.
Packard graduated from Brighton High School . He earned a degree in forestry and range management from Colorado Agricultural College in Fort Collins.
He was employed by the government as a range examiner. He farmed in Adams and Weld counties.
He was a treasurer of the Adams County School District 27J Board of Education and member of the Centennial Antique Tractor Club in Cheyenne, Green Valley Grange, Masonic Temple, Flying Farmers and Brighton United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed travel and restoring and collecting tractors and farm machinery.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Robert, Brighton; three daughters, Mary Richard, Cheyenne, Carol Ferrera, Louisville, and Sharon Hall, Littleton; two sisters, Esther Winters, Durango, and Ruth Davis, Denver; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
