Friends of Willard D. Swain, who established the Cuelet Press in 1936 and edited the magazine until 1953, regretted to learn of his death on November 23 at the age of 75 after a lengthy illness.
A Crockett resident for more than 40 years, Mr. Swain was coordinator of public and employee information when he took early retirement in 1958 to become a public relations consultant. In subsequent years he represented the Contra Costa Water Agency, Contra Costa Board of Supervisors, Peralta Hospital in Oakland, Marines' Memorial Association and other clients.
While Cubelet Press editor, he was elected president of the Pacific Coast Conference of Industrial Editors and in 1945 was president of the International Council of Industrial Editors.
He is survived by his widow, Joy Swain of Crockett, retired Crockett librarian, a daughter, Willis Seybold of Port Hardy, B.C. and a son, Willard H. of Battle Creek, Michigan/
