Carolin Dreher 1947-2025

Carolin (Randa) Dreher of rural Kirk, Colorado went to be with the Lord on June 23, 2025 surrounded by family at Wray Community Hospital in Wray, Colorado.

Carolin was born on April 11, 1947, to Edwin and Marilda (Werth) Randa in Hays, Kansas. When Carolin was a young child, the family relocated to Lebanon, Kansas briefly before making a home in Brighton, Colorado when she was 4 years old. Carolin then went on to graduate from Brighton High School in 1965. It was shortly after graduating high school that Carolin married small-town farmer, Wilfred “Frank” Dreher. To this union came one daughter, Julie Ann in 1966 and one son, Mark Allen in 1968.

As a young mother of two, Carolin obtained her real estate broker license and went on to establish a successful business in Denver, Colorado.

In 1979, Wilfred and Carolin moved the family to rural Kirk, Colorado. This is where Carolin would flourish as a homemaker, bookkeeper, silage truck driver, and anything else that needed to be done on the farm. She could also be found volunteering her time at her children’s school activities. Carolin became a grandmother in 1995. While she was instrumental in helping raise Amanda, she took great pride in helping mold all her grandkids in their faith and being involved in their daily lives. Her guidance, warmth, unwavering support, and many sweet treats are just a few of her grandchildren’s favorite memories.

Her caring nature was also clear in the way she grew her big, thriving garden—a garden that will keep blessing her family through all the jams, pickles, and preserves she made from it. She was famous for her many traditional German dishes but the family really loved her piggies, blueberry pies, and egg nog at Christmas. No matter what she was cooking up in the kitchen, Carolin’s secret ingredient was always love.

As a devout Catholic, Carolin faithfully served her parish as a member of the St. Charles Altar and Rosary Society for many years. Carolin was always devoted to her faith and family above all else.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 60 years, Wilfred “Frank” Dreher. Her children: Julie Dreher (Stan Johnson) and their children Morgan and Jordan Johnson of Johnstown, Colorado; Mark (Sherry) Dreher and their children Amanda (Derek) Hoskinson of Dodge City, Kansas, Matthew and Eric Dreher of Stratton, Colorado. Her great grand-children: Jayce and Kyndell Hoskinson of Dodge City, Kansas. She is also survived by numerous cousins, aunts, nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Marilda (Werth) Randa, father-in-law Wilfred Andrew Dreher, mother-in-law Virginia (Kellerman) Dreher, numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Charles Altar and Rosary Society in Stratton, Colorado.
