Alfred John Henry Windler, 87, of Broomfield and formerly of Brighton, died Feb. 4, 2009.
He was born May 9, 1921, in Brighton. He graduated from Brighton High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in World War II as a machinist mate, on the U.S.S. Bootes. Upon his return, he settled in Broomfield, where he raised his family and lived for the past 50 years. He retired from Rocky Flats after 28 years of service. He was a past grand master of the Masonic Lodge #184 and was a life member of the V.F.W. and the Elks.
Survivors include his his wife, Mary; five sons, nine grandchildren and four great-grandsons.
A viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 9, at Olinger Highland Mortuary and funeral services are at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 10, also at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals or the Colorado Special Olympics.
