Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Why did you create this website?
I did my best to answer that question on my personal website, where I created a memorial page solely for my own graduating class. Here is a link: Why This Memorial Page?
Q. I clicked on a link to Tabor Funeral home and it does not take me to the correct obituary?
Tabor Funeral Home made changes to their website, which effected a lot of the page titles of the obituaries. Click on one of my links will take you to their page. You can do a search, in the upper right corner, to find the person you are looking for. I am trying to update the links, but it is a long process.
Q. Is this website maintained by Brighton High School?
No. This website is not affiliated with Brighton High School, nor School District 27-J. Nothing on this website is endorsed or supported by either entity.
Q: Why do you include the Cause of Death? That can be insensitive in some cases.
It is not my goal to offend anyone or to cause any pain. It had been my intent to have the Cause of Death serve as a cautionary tale, hopefully preventing a further loss. But, in the years I have been doing this I have not heard of anyone who said that learning of a cause of death, caused them to rethink something in their life. I have heard of multiple issues where seeing the cause of death brought back painful memories. I will no longer list controversial causes of death and am undertaking to remove those that are up. Please be respectful if you need to notify me about one of these. I am not trying to cause additional pain.
Q: You have some information wrong. How do I fix it?
Contact me at [email protected] Please don't post questions or comments about the accuracy of this site on Facebook. The Brighton Fallen Bulldogs - RIP page there is not for the mundane task of making corrections here. It is for the remembrance of our friends and family.
Q: Does someone have to graduate from Brighton High School to be considered a Bulldog and be included on your website?
No, If a person attended BHS for even a single day they are a Bulldog.
Q: My graduating class is not listed, why not?
I have not identified anyone in your class who has passed away. If you know of someone who should be listed in a missing year, send any information you have, to me at [email protected] It is my goal to have the following for each person listed:
Full Name
Birthdate
Date of Death
Cause of Death
Cemetery they were buried in or applicable info
Graduation or other High School photo
Post-graduation photo around time of death
Any online memorial (like findagrave.com) or online obituary listing
Any published information about their passing (Obituary or News story)
Q: You don't have so and so listed, why not?
It is likely that I don't know they have passed or I did not know they went to BHS. When I do find that a BHS alum has past away, I will list them as soon as I can. The more information I have the quicker I will get them posted. Their name, date of death, graduation class, and a picture, in that order, are the most critical. With the name and date of death, I can often find other details. I ask for the photo, because it really brings the memorial alive. Plus, as we get older, it's harder to put names to faces. The pictures really help.
Q: You have the class wrong on so and so, why?
I get the class information from a few different sources. The most common is by their birthdate, which gets you the right answer most of the time. The second most common was is via their obituary. But, often the person writing the obituary did not go to school with our alum. So, even their information might be wrong. The most definitive source is a yearbook. But, I don't have access to all of those. On most graduates before 1947, I am guessing. So if you have better information, I will be glad to get it.
Q. Did you create the Brighton Fallen Bulldogs - RIP Facebook group?
No, I didn't. That admirable group was created by Chad Koscielikci. But, his group did inspire me to create and name this website. The title of that group page was perfect, so I used a shortened version.
Q. Where do you get all of this information?
I keep abreast, as best I can, with the local obituaries. I have other sources that I have accumulated while doing family research. I monitor the Brighton Fallen Bulldogs - RIP group on Facebook. I also get a lot of help from people who hear about a recent passing or see that I missed a friend or family member when they visit this site. Often the only way I will know that a Bulldog has passed away, is if someone tells me. My e-mail address is [email protected] if you would also like to help.
Q. Do you charge to have someone listed?
No, and I have no plans to ever charge for that. I believe that everyone deserves a memorial of some sort so they can be remembered.
Q. I want to leave a thought or story about so and so. How can I do that?
I have decided not to have that as part of this site. The Fallen Bulldogs page on Facebook is a good spot for that. It can be found at http://www.facebook.com/groups/49297284606/ Also, Findagrave.com allows that, too. Findagrave.com is free to join and a deceased person does not have to have an actual grave to be listed. For example, I have made sure that all of my 1981 classmates, who were cremated, have their own memorial there. I have provided links to those people, that I know of, who have a Findagrave.com memorial. If you go there, you can easily leave a message or put virtual flowers on their grave. If you do create a Findagrave.com memorial, let me know and I will get it attached to their memorial here at FallenBulldogs.com.
Q. You have a picture of so and so, but I have a better one. Will you put mine up?
My goal is to have a graduation picture and a picture near the time they passed away. So if I have their sophomore picture up and you have their graduation picture, I would definitely replace the picture. The contemporary pictures would have to be evaluated on a case by case basis. But, I am looking to have each memorial as nice as possible.
Q. How many memorials are there on this site?
A: I added the 2,300th memorial on Jan 23, 2024. Click on the "Index" tab for a list by name. Click on "Fallen in 2024 to see those Bulldogs we have lost this year.
Q. When did you create this site?
A: Fallenbulldogs.com was announced on August 27, 2012. There were about 200 memorials then.
Q. Why don't you list the teachers and other people from BHS?
A: The short answer is that it is a lot of work just keeping up with the students. At some point in time I may add a "Faculty" page.
Q. Are you related to Ken Kreutzer?
A: No, I'm not. And I certainly hope Ken gets asked this question as often as I do.
I did my best to answer that question on my personal website, where I created a memorial page solely for my own graduating class. Here is a link: Why This Memorial Page?
