BRIEF: Springs man drowns at Lake Pueblo
Oct. 30--An incident Wednesday at Lake Pueblo State Park ended in the death of a Colorado Springs man.
Marco Brookman , 64, is presumed to have drowned, Pueblo County Coroner James Kramer said.
Brookman was found floating alone at 5:17 p.m. in the northeast end of the reservoir, according to park officials.
The Colorado State Patrol, Pueblo West Fire and Pueblo County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene. Undersheriff J.R. Hall said Brookman was found in the water near a fishing area off Road N 1, near the dam on the northeast shore.
Park ranger Danielle Hill said Brookman was revived at the scene and transported to a local hospital. Kramer said Brookman died at 6:29 p.m. at St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center.

Coroner: death at lake officially a drowning
Oct. 31--The death of a Colorado Springs man found unconscious in the water at Lake Pueblo State Park was ruled a drowning on Thursday, according to the coroner.
Marco Brookman , 64, had underlying coronary disease, Pueblo County Coroner James Kramer said.
"The main thing is it's consistent with drowning," Kramer said. "Toxicology results are pending."
Park Ranger Danielle Hill said Brookman 's death was likely an accident. Brookman was discovered floating alone and unconscious Wednesday about 30 yards off the lake's northeast shore. Hill said Brookman had been fishing in the area in a kick boat.
Hill said she swam about 30 yards out to Brookman , who was wearing a life vest and floating face down.
Hill said initial reports that Brookman was revived once he was brought ashore were wrong.
"He was still cold, and once you warm up the body or person, you don't know what is possible. I really had hope. I really did," she said.
Brookman was transported by ambulance to St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Although Brookman wore a personal flotation device, Hill said it wasn't the type designed to keep a person's head from floating upright and out of the water.
"The PFD he had on may have had a huge impact" in Brookman 's death, she said.
