Don and Carol Pomranka of Loveland will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary May 31.
They will have a family retreat later this summer in Estes Park, with their son Jay and wife Jo and their daughters of Loveland, and son Jeff and wife Carol Anne of Denver.
Carol Potter of Brighton and Don Pomranka of Loveland were married May 31, 1959, at the First Christian Church in Fort Collins.
They met as students at Colorado State University, had their first date in Estes Park in the summer of 1956, and then corresponded with each other for nearly two years while Don served in the Army Signal Corps in Korea.
They moved to Loveland from Fort Collins in spring 1960, when they joined Don's parents in ownership and operation of D&F Super Market at 1600 N. Lincoln Ave. In 1968, the market was sold.
Don and two partners opened Signature Realty Ltd. He continued in the real estate business for 36 years and retired as a broker associate. Carol was a homemaker and then worked in the printing industry for 18 years, retiring in 1998.
One of the couple's common interests is their enjoyment of sports and supporting young athletes in their endeavors. They are active members of First Christian Church and have served the Loveland community over many years in civic organizations and activities and philanthropic projects.
Don is a life member of the BPOE Elks Lodge No. 1051, and Carol is a member of PEO Chapter FL, and an honorary member of Foothills Service League.
The couple also enjoy playing bridge, gaming, musical theater productions and gardening. Most of all, they delight in spending time with their family and friends.
