David L. Case

The Daily Reporter-Herald (Loveland, CO)
Friday, April 16, 2010

David L. Case, 63, of Loveland passed away at Pathways Hospice Care Center on April 14, 2010.

He was born Oct. 1, 1946, in Denver, Colo., to Jacob and Elsie (Karlin) Case.

David graduated from Brighton High School in 1964 and moved to Loveland in 1968.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for nearly four years.

He later owned Case Construction. In 1985 he began working for Rigid Component Systems, where he designed and sold roof trusses. He retired in November 2009 because of ill health.

He married Ruth Hite Ramirez in Loveland on June 6, 1987. He attended Crossroads Church and belonged to the Wednesday Morning Men's Bible Study Group.

He enjoyed dancing, doing jigsaw puzzles, Bible study and building anything from a custom home to picture frames.

Dave loved the outdoors — hunting, fishing and camping. His greatest happiness was teaching others how to catch and land "the big one." He shared his secrets with anyone who would listen — strangers or fishing buddies — but his greatest pleasure was helping his children and grandchildren learn to fish and for them to outfish him.

In July 2007 he was diagnosed with advanced renal cell carcinoma. He fought the "C" word valiantly and lived and shared many happy moments with family and friends until Jesus called him home.

He shared his love of Christ and his faith in God during that time, again with anyone who would listen, and encouraged them to trust in God. His faith was unshakeable even to the end.

Dave left a legacy of love, hope and a sense of humor for friends and family.

Fisherman's Prayer

I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day.

And when it comes to my last cast, I then most humbly pray:

When in the Lord's great landing net and peacefully asleep

That in His mercy I be judged big enough to keep.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; mother, Elsie "Case" Hoffman, Loveland; daughters Judy Lee Case and Stephanie Lynn Zugarramurdi, both of Peoria, Ariz.; sons Doug, Roger (Wendy) and David (Helen) Ramirez, all of Greeley; brothers Bruce (Sherry), Loveland, James, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Steve (Donna) Nunn, and Tom Case, Livermore; sisters Jeanine Case Sanders, Loveland, and Karen Case Dailey, Westminster. He also is survived by 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a great-grandchild due in four weeks.

He was preceded in death by his father; his stepfather, Ed Hoffman; and a daughter, Vanessa Liennea Case.

Memorial services will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Crossroads Church, Loveland. Military graveside service at Loveland Burial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice, the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, or American Cancer Society Home State Bank Relay For Life Team in care of Viegut Funeral Home.
