Doralyn Isabell (Dreyer) Swisher, 85, of Paso Robles passed away peacefully to be with her Lord Saturday evening, Aug. 20, 2011.
Doralyn was born in August 1926 to Frank and Jannett Dreyer of Brighton, Colo.
Doralyn greatly admired her father, who farmed until age 81, was a charter member of the Adams Co. Consumers Cooperative and a director of Farmland Industries.
She was a graduate of Cottey College in Nevada, Mo., and Colorado State College of Education having earned a degree in elementary education.
Doralyn met Don Swisher in Richland, Wash., where she taught elementary school and Don worked for Hanford Atomic Works.
After their wedding, Doralyn and Don moved to Southern California and resided in the San Fernando Valley for many years. They were long time members of the Granada Hills Presbyterian Church, where they built many enduring friendships before they moved to Paso Robles 21 years ago.
Doralyn enjoyed extensive travel, camping and square dancing with Don.
She became a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood (a philanthropic women's organization) in 1947. She was President of Chapter HL, Paso Robles from 1993 to 1995 and remained very active until she was called home to Chapter Eternal.
Doralyn is survived by her husband of 60 years Don; children Jannett Swisher of Rio Rancho, N.M., Kent Swisher (Mary) of Sonoma. Calif., Douglas Swisher (Ann) of Grand Rapids, Mich.; four grandchildren Courtney, Molly, Rod and Jay Swisher; and younger brother, Stanley Dreyer of Springfield, Va.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Frank and Jannett Dreyer; and older brother, Donald Dreyer of Brighton.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church of Templeton, 610 S. Main St. in Templeton.
