SLAYER'S APPEAL DENIED

A Thornton man who shot his wife to death during a 1988 New Year's Eve argument in front of their son and daughter lost an appeal of his first-degree murder conviction and life sentence yesterday. The Colorado Court of Appeals upheld the conviction of James Hulsing for killing his wife, Elaine , and ruled the trial judge properly allowed into evidence statements that the stunned and frightened children made to police minutes after their arrival.
