Esther Feruza Brashear Biography
Esther Feruza Brashear was born on June 30, 1891 in the country of Persia. Persia is now know as Iran. Esther's father, Turner Goe (George?) Brashear was a Presbyterian minister and Esther along with several of her siblings were born outside the USA as her father did his ministerial work.Esther's middle name undoubtedly given to her as a link to her foreign birth.
The family returned to the US in 1900, where they settled in Indiana. 1910 was a transitional year for the family, as they moved to Denver. Esther was 18 by then, but not yet a high school graduate. This is may have been due to her nomadic life her father had chosen.
Esther is listed among the graduating class of Brighton High School (as published in the Brighton Blade) for 1911. From there she continued her education at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois. Lake Forest College is a private liberal arts college founded as an alternative to the Methodist college in Evanston, Illinois.
Esther returned to Colorado after college where she met, Harold Alexander Vance. They were married in Akron, Washington County, Colorado on June 7, 1917. The couple settled in the Akron area. They had no children
Esther passed away on January 22, 1975 and is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery in Denver. Harold joined her there in 1981.
