Gerhardt R. "G.R." Gabbert of Fort Collins, a retired salesman, died Monday in Fort Collins. He was 79.
Services were Thursday at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Interment was in Fort Logan National Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 23, 1919, in Lincoln, Kan. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1937.
On June 8, 1941, he married Nadie Rodcay in Brighton. She died in 1982. He married Elizabeth Lauck on Aug. 30, 1986, in Fort Collins.
During World War II, he served in the Army.
Gabbert owned and operated meat processing plants, then worked in sales for Richlawn Turf Farm for 16 years before retiring in 1981.
He was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and volunteered at McKee Medical Center. His interests included golfing, baseball and football.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Ronald and John, both of Littleton, and Stephen Jacoby, Victor, Idaho; five daughters, Gerideane Tracey and Cheryl Ann Anderson-Pickett, both of Morrison, Kathy Jordan and Karen Lesser, both of Laporte, and Jeannette Strom, Windsor; three brothers, Walter, Lakewood, Lambert, Florida, and Robert, Northglenn; three sisters, Astrid Mayes, Lakewood, Magdelene Rogers, Dallas, and Margaret Cantril, Denver; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
