Harvey M. Timmerman, 78, of Sterling, died Monday, June 27, 2005, in Sterling. Visitation is Thursday, June 30, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services are Friday, July 1, at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. James R. Nash officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with military rites by VFW Post No. 3541.
Mr. Timmerman was born Nov. 12, 1926, in Hudson to Henry and Olga (Bredehoft) Timmerman.
He attended Whittier School from first through fifth grade, and then sixth through eighth grade at Zion Lutheran School in Brighton. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1943.
He worked on the farm with his father until he was drafted into the Army in May 1945. He was honorably discharged in May 1947, having served in the 85th Signal Battalion with the rank of private first class.
He married Norma Marie Peiffer on Aug. 28, 1949, in Brighton. They made their home in Star route Hudson.
Mr. Timmerman was a member of VFW Post No. 3541 since the early 1970s. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and was a past grand commander of the Military Order of the Cooties.
He is survived by wife Norma Timmerman, of Sterling; daughters Cynthia Perankovich and husband Dewey, of Texas, Linda Gann and husband Gerry, of Indiana, and Victoria Wold and husband Michael, of Colorado; brothers Kenneth and Willard Timmerman; sister Helen Schwab, all of Brighton; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Donald Timmerman; and infant sister; and daughter Patricia Nolevanko.
