U.S. veteran Herbert E. Wagner, 64, of Keenesburg died Jan. 23, 2009, as a result of a car accident in Keenesburg.
He was born January 13, 1944, to Philip (Sr.) and Katherine G. Wagner in Brighton. Herbert attended and graduated from Brighton High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served his country for four years and was discharged in 1965, as an E-5 Sergeant with honors. During his time of service, he met and married Mary M. Schnelle Aug. 13, 1963, in Denver.
Upon discharge from the Army, Herbert returned to Brighton where he and his wife began their farming and ranching business with his father. They moved to Keenesburg in 1974 to expand their farming and ranching operation. They were active in foster care. Mary passed away in 1992. Herbert married Sandy Clark of Keenesburg Feb. 5, 2005. They later divorced.
Survivors include his daughters, Katherine M. Wagner of Phoenix, Ariz. and Bonnie Allarid of Keenesburg; sons, Pat L. Billings of Hudson, Herbert E. Wagner Jr. of Eaton, Philip G. Wagner of Keenesburg, Roland. K. Wagner of Hudson, father-mentor to Bobbie Noble of Commerce City and Glenn Noble of Palisade; sisters, Helen Wagner of Denver, Tillie Wagner of Brighton, and Elsie Glover of Sandy, Utah; brothers Fred Wagner of Brighton, Sam Wagner of Brighton, Albert Gablehouse of Fort Collins and Henry Wagner of Brighton; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services are at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 29 at the Community United Methodist Church in Keenesburg, Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Bennett.
