Jim Kaus March 23, 1951 - July 15, 2009
Jim Kaus passed away on July 15, 2009 at Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction. He was 58 years old. Jim was born on March 23, 1951, to Francis and Dorthy (Woolley) in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from Brighton High School and attended Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado. Jim married Deb Holzer also from Brighton on August 31, 1973.
He worked in the heavy construction business throughout Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah until his death. Jim enjoyed riding motorcycles, hiking, and skiing and loved classic or fast cars. His favorite pastime was hanging out with his family and many friends and laughing about shared memories.
Jim was a God loving man who was very active at Messiah Lutheran Church. He was more concerned with the welfare of others than his own. Jim's favorite saying was "Would you do me a favor?...... Have an awesome day!"
He is survived by his "beautiful bride," Deb of Grand Junction; son, Jeromy (Megan) Kaus of Whitewater, Colorado; daughters, Jamie Kaus of Squim, Washington and Chakotah Kaus of Grand Junction, Colorado; brother, Ed (Pat) Kaus of Chandler, Arizona; sister, Mary Anne Haden of Nashville, Tennessee; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service and celebration of his life is scheduled for Sunday, July 19th, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Junction, Colorado. A reception will follow at the church. Contributions can be made to either the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Western Colorado, 3090 B North 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506 or the ALS Foundation. Callahan-Edfast has been entrusted with the arrangements.
