The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Joseph D. Romero, 79, at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Corona. He died of cancer March 27 at Moreno Valley Community Hospital.
Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. Sunday at Arlington Mortuary in Riverside. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
Burial will be in Riverside National Cemetery.
Mr. Romero, who was born in Trinidad, Colo., lived in Moreno Valley eight years. He was an electronics technician for 40 years at General Dynamics in Pomona before he retired in 1985.
During World War II, he served in the U. S. Army from 1942 until 1945 and was awarded three Bronze Star Medals.
Mr. Romero graduated from Brighton High School in Colorado and later from an engineering college in San Francisco in the mid-1950s.
He was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
Mr. Romero enjoyed playing the guitar and repairing televisions.
He is survived by his wife, Isabelle; two daughters, Deborah Clopton of Rancho Cucamonga and Doreen Ruelas of Moreno Valley; five sons, Dennis of Sante Fe, N. M., Dale of Wrightwood, Danny of Mission Viejo, David of Diamond Bar and Richard of West Covina; 20 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Lange of Las Vegas; and a brother, Jake of Thornton, Colo.
