TWO DIE WHEN VEHICLE ROLLS INTO CLEAR CREEK
Four people died in traffic accidents on Colorado highways yesterday morning, including two who were killed when their car plunged into Clear Creek west of Golden.
The Colorado State Patrol said the car was speeding east on U.S. 6 between tunnels shortly after midnight when it spun out of control and rolled into the creek.
Killed in the crash were the driver, Cynthia A. Towle, 20, of Rolling
Hills, Calif., and a passenger, Tess M. Acuff, 20, of Omaha, troopers said.
Two other passengers were hospitalized in fair condition yesterday. Piper L. Barnum, 20, of Boulder, was taken to St. Anthony Hospital Central. Kari
Lamberti, 20, of Wayzata, Minn., was taken to Lutheran Medical Center.
At 1:30 a.m., a 23-year-old Denver motorcyclist was killed and his passenger was injured when they were ejected on the ramp leading from eastbound U.S. 36 onto southbound Interstate 25.
The driver, John M. McPherson, was declared dead at the scene. His rider, Robert E. Weatherford, 21, of Thornton, suffered head, neck, chest and back injuries. He was treated at Humana Hospital Mountain View. Neither man was wearing a helmet, troopers said.
At about 2:20 a.m., an unidentified man was killed in a one-car accident on northbound U.S. 85 in Adams County, just north of East 77th Avenue.
