Joy Rucker Holt
Musician, 72
Joy Rucker Holt of Greeley, formerly of Brighton, a musician, died Oct. 27. She was 72.
Services were Oct. 31 at Henderson Congregational Church. There was cremation.
She was born Aug. 12, 1928, in Henderson. She graduated from Brighton High School and attended Central Business School in Denver. She married James R. Barton in 1948 and divorced in 1965. In 1973, she married Eugene Scellato, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 5, 1995, she married Donald Holt in Henderson.
She worked for the Adams County Judicial System and Motor Vehicle Department from 1965 to 1974. She helped operate the LaSalle Veterinary Clinic from 1953 to 1960. She was an organist for Henderson Congregational Church and LaSalle Presbyterian Church. She played violin with the Mostly Strauss Orchestra in Denver, the Brighton Symphony Orchestra, the Strings Color Musical Group in Brighton and the Sunshine Band of Greeley and in many jamborees in Greeley.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Kurt Barton, Las Vegas; James K. Barton, Greeley, and Karl A. Barton, Casper; a stepson, Gregory, Greeley; a stepdaughter, Lauren Rupp, Greeley; three grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
