Kirk Alan Kiyota
Deputy director, 43
Kirk Alan Kiyota of Brighton, a deputy director and business owner, died Oct. 1 in Hilo, Hawaii. He was 43.
Services were Oct. 9 at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church in Boulder. There was cremation.
He was born June 26, 1957, in Denver.
Kiyota was a 1975 Brighton High School graduate. He attended Western State College in Gunnison.
He was deputy director for Kalima Services at Johnston Atoll Air Base in the South Pacific.
He had been a snowmobile mechanic and station manager for Palmer Station in Antarctica and a transportation manager for McMurdo station in Antarctica.
He formed K&K Racing with his brother, and they traveled across the country racing motorcycles. He was a certified deep-sea diver. His interests included travel, hiking, photography and vintage motorcycles.
He is survived by his parents, Jim and Fran, Brighton; a brother, Keith, Osaka, Japan; and a sister, Gail, Brighton.
