Kirk Hunter Swarts
Kirk Hunter Swarts, 52, of Commerce City, was born Oct. 12, 1960, to Don and Evelyn Swarts in Brighton. He passed away June 9, 2013, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He graduated from Brighton High School in 1979 and loved playing basketball throughout his school years. He married Gay (Morrill) Swarts on Feb. 29, 2000.
Most recently, he worked for the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment as a licensed stationary engineer serving as their HVAC specialist.
Kirk loved to go camping and fishing, especially with his wife Gay, family members and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Gay L. Swarts; three children, Alicia (Brandon) Hinds, of Brighton, Curtis (Danielle) Swarts, of Commerce City, and Kimberly Franklin, of Brighton. He is also survived by two adopted daughters: Eunique and Elizza Swarts, as well as two stepsons, Nathan (Tahra) Welker of Sandy, Utah, and Wesley Welker, of Magna, Utah. He is survived by nine grandchildren: Codhy, Dylan, Derek, Kihlee, Kahsidy, Zandor, Daniel, Nova and Aeris. He is also survived by his mother, Evelyn Swarts, of Brighton; and a brother, Kevin Swarts, of Brighton.
His son, Christopher Swarts; his father, Don Swarts; and a brother, Timothy Swarts, preceded him in death.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. June 22, 2013, at St Paul’s Community Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Denver Hospice.
