Larry "Spud" Howell, 77, of Brighton died Tuesday, May 5, 2009, in Louisville.
Larry was born Feb. 13, 1932, to Kirk and Dorothy (Spurlin) Howell in Fort Lupton.
Larry was raised in the Brighton and Fort Lupton area. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1950.
In 1951 Larry married Arlene Wood in Brighton. He worked with his family at Kirk Howell & Sons Construction and Land Leveling. Larry also loved working with metal and welding.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, yard work and gardening.
He especially enjoyed traveling in his RV.
Larry is survived by his wife, Arlene of Brighton; daughter, Renee (Kevin) Briggs of Thornton; sons, Rod (Chris) Howell of Brighton, Rick (Cindy) Howell of Arvada; sister, Margy (Allen) VonLoh of Colorado Springs; brothers, Keith (Lynne) Howell of Wiggins, Harold (Jeannie) Howell of Fort Morgan; grandchildren, Jayme (Brett) Ditsch, Holly (Andrew) Bohac, Ricky Howell, Justin Howell, JeniSue Briggs and Ethan-Ray Briggs; great-grandchildren, Jaleigh Howell, Faith Bohac; stepdaughter, Judy (Willie) Bryant of Kentucky; three step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Danny Howell.
Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m.
Friday at Stoddard Funeral Home. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3000 35th Ave. in Greeley. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley.
