Valley Courier (Alamosa, CO)
Wednesday, March 20, 2013

Larry Matschke, 65, long time resident of Jaroso, Colorado passed away in his home at Meadview Arizona March 17, 2013.

Larry Gene Matschke was born in Denver Colorado on January 30, 1948 to Earl and Josephine (Appelhanz) Matschke.

He met and married the love of his life, Patti Willrich on December 20, 1975 at the Chapel Of The Bells in Las Vegas Nevada.

After is father’s death at the age of 16 Larry farmed the family farm. A year after Larry married Patti they bought a farm South of Vona Colorado. Due to two years of drought he had to sell that farm. The family then moved to Jaroso Colorado where he farmed and raised cattle until 2008. They decided to sell the farm and move to Meadview Arizona where it was much warmer.

Larry loved to cook and bake. He was especially known for his pizza and the hottest green chili you ever ate. He also made a lot of muffins, this is why he was called “the muffin man”.

Larry was a member of Elks Lodge 468 in Kingman Arizona.

He loved shooting trap and sporting clays. Every Tuesday he and his buddies would golf at Valle Vista Golf course. Then they would stop at the 19 hole and have a cool one before coming home.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Patti, children Lori (Tony) Shrader Firestone Colorado, Lisa (Lewis) Io Parker Colorado, Terry Matschke Kingman Arizona, grandchildren Nick and Elijah Shrader, Kenese Io, Kyleigh Io, Kendall Io, Keagan Io and Brandon Matschke. One sister Patricia Randall Fort Collins Colorado. Many nephews and nieces and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Carl and Bob Matschke.

Cremation was selected and a memorial service will be held Sunday March 24 at The Fishermans Landing Meadview Arizona.
