Fatal Accident at E 120th Parkway and Brighton Road

COMMERCE CITY, COLO. (April 5, 2019) At approximately 12:13 p.m., officers of the Commerce City Police Department were dispatched to a report of an injury accident at the intersection of E. 120th Parkway and Brighton Road. A preliminary investigation revealed that a light blue Kia Rio was westbound on E. 120th Parkway when it collided with a dark blue Nissan Altima traveling northbound on Brighton Road. The driver of the Nissan Altima was transported to a local hospital and was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Kia was also transported to a local hospital, with what is believed to be serious injuries.
The Commerce City Accident Reconstruction team is on-scene, and the investigation is on-going. The roadway at the intersection of E. 120th Parkway and Brighton Road remains open. However, several lanes are closed due to the investigation. At this time, alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a contributing factor.
