Case, ex-BHS wrestler, dies at home
WELD COUNTY -- Lucas Case, a 2010 graduate of Brighton High School, died at home early July 23. He was 22.
Weld County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sean Standridge said deputies and fire rescue personnel responded to a medical emergency shortly after 4 a.m. They found Case's body inside a home in the 12000 block of Weld County Road 4. Standridge said foul play is not suspected. The Weld County coroner will determine the exact cause of death.
Case was born Jan. 27, 1992, in Brighton to Brian Case and Sarah Chambers. He attended Northeast Elementary School and Overland Trail Middle School, where he was an undefeated wrestler. During his four years at Brighton High School, he qualified four times for the state wrestling tournament.
Case worked for Spain's Pump Service and Timberline Remediation Services. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding ATVs and motocross racing.
Case is survived by his parents Brian and Lisa (Kircher) Case, of Brighton, and Sarah Barth, of Arvada; grandparents, Joe and Marilyn Case, of Brighton; siblings Jesse and Brandi Case, of Brighton; and Colton and Sierra Barth, of Arvada.
Visitation will be from 7:30 to 9 p.m., Sunday, July 27, at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home, 75 S. 13th Ave., in Brighton. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, July 28, at Access Church of Brighton, 133 S. 27th Ave. Interment follows at Elmwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Luke Case Memorial Fund, in case of Valley Bank & Trust, 30 N. Fourth Ave., Brighton, CO 80601.
