Margaret Cercone, 94, of Frederick, Colorado died Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Longmont United Hospital.
Born May 8, 1913 in Denver, Colorado to Rosario and Filomena (DiSantis) Romano, Margaret graduated from high school in Brighton . On March 3, 1929, Margaret married Damiano Cercone in Frederick. The couple made their home in Frederick where Damiano worked in the coal mines and later for the City of Thornton.
Mrs. Cercone was an active member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic minister for many years. Margaret spent many hours in her garden, growing beautiful flowers and delicious vegetables. She also enjoyed dancing, knitting, and crocheting. But most important was her unconditional love for her family. She adored her children, grandchildren and their families, and cherished meals and time spent with them.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1980; a daughter, Thelma Romano; a grandson, Rocky Rossetti; a son-in-law, Vincent Rossetti; and three sisters: Mary, Carmella, and Juliette.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Betty Rossetti of Westminster; her son, Larry Cercone of Frederick; seven grandchildren: Kathy (Fred) Lombardi, Rick (Patty) Romano, Vicki (Steve) Waltz, Ingrid (TJ) Holston, Alex Cercone, Charles Gallagher and Sam Gallagher; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Margaret is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and by extended family and friends.
Recitation of the rosary will be held at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Frederick on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at St. Theresa's with entombment to follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. In honor of Margaret's wishes, no public visitation is planned and the casket will be closed. Howe Mortuary, Longmont, is handling arrangements.
