MAUDE IRENE BUTLER, 88, of Brighton died Nov. 17. Services were Nov. 20. Mrs. Butler was born in Las Animas on Sept. 27, 1908. She was a teacher in Aurora for 21 years. She was the recipient of the North American Conservation Award and the Omega State Award of Delta Kappa Gamma International Honor Socity for outstanding educational contributions. She was a teacher representative on the Colorado Council of Instruction, Colorado State Department of Education. She published 10 books under the name Frandsen. She was listed in Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in the West, Two Thousand Women of Achievement, and The Writer's Dictionary. She was a member of the Colorado State Historical Society. Survivors include nieces Maxine Lindsey, Dorothy Goddard, Florene Henry, all of Brighton, Judith Riggs; nephew Harry Linstrom of Northglenn.
