John Ray “Rick” Ard
John Ray “Rick” Ard, 56, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at Platte Valley Medical Center after suffering a massive heart attack.
J.R. was born May 16, 1956, to Nick and Velta Ard in McAlister, Okla. He spent most of his life as a greyhound trainer, and after retiring from doing so turned his attention to a past time he loved — building hot rods and race cars.
He resided in Filer, Idaho, for 15 years before returning back to Colorado to be with his family. He was an amazing man with a zest for life, a contagious smile and a personality that not only brought joy to his family but also to everyone he knew. He will be very deeply missed.
J.R. is survived by his two dogs, Bull and Knikki; his parents, Nick and Velta Ard, of Commerce City; siblings Cynthia (Noah) Wood, of Brighton, Randa (Tom) Ash-Gomez, of Brighton, Tike (Dave) Houlett, of Mobile, Ala., and Randy Ard, of Brighton; nephews Michael Houlett, of Mobile, Ala., and Ramzey Ard, of Denver; nieces Brandy Ash, Adrianna Renova, Aubrey Gurule, of Brighton, and Deziree Ard, of Denver; and great-niece Jazzylynne, of Brighton.
At J.R.’s request, he was cremated and no services were held.
