Memorial services for Robert M. Candlin, 87, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church. Private inurnment will be later.
Mr. Candlin died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.
He was born March 1, 1916, in Greeley, Colo., the son of Robert King Candlin and Marion Skones.
Mr. Candlin was an accountant for Kansas University. He was a member of Rotary International and was coordinator of the International Exchange Program. He was a Paul Harris Fellow in 1984 and 1990 and was a member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, Boy Scouts, First United Methodist Church and FUMC Fisherman's Club. He volunteered at Spencer Museum of Art, Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels.
He married Marjorie H. Burnett on May 30, 1937, in Greeley. She died Dec. 28, 2002.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Thompson, Kansas City, Mo., Micki Pflieger, Denver, and Berta Woolard, Lawrence; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A son, William King Candlin, died in 1967.
The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn., Hospice Care of Douglas County, Rotary International Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
