A Short and Incomplete Biography of Ron Kramer
Ronald Gene Kramer was born as Ronald Gene Thomas, on December 15, 1950, possibly in Fort Smith, Arkansas. His father died when Ron was very young and his widowed mother married William Kramer.
Ron attended Brighton High School at least his sophomore year. I do not find him pictured in either the 1969 or 1970 yearbooks.
In the spring of what would have been his senior year at BHS, Ron entered the United States Army. He completed basic training with an MOS as an Infantryman. He was assigned to Company B of the 3rd Batallion, of the 1st Regiment in Military Region #1 of South Vietnam.
Ron began his tour of duty on June 9, 1969. 35 days later, on July 14th, he was killed by small arms fire in Quang Ngai province. His body was recovered and he was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, in Brighton, CO on July 25, 1969. The flag presented to his mother is in VFW in Keenesburg, CO.
