Vera Winters
Vera Jean Winters, 70, of Greeley died Wednesday, May 7, at her home.
She was born Jan. 1, 1933, in Denver to Homer and Alice (Lawrence) Osborne.
Formerly of Long Beach, Calif., Englewood, Brighton, Johnstown and Sterling, Mrs. Winters lived in Greeley for 40 years. She graduated from Brighton High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State College of Education, now the University of Northern Colorado. She taught kindergarten in Englewood, then taught special education in Sterling before moving to Greeley. She worked at Woolworth’s for 18 years and at ABC Preschool.
Mrs. Winters was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed murder mystery books and puzzles, genealogy, and spoiling her pet dog and cat. Her two granddaughters were the joy of her life.
Survivors are two daughters, Cynthia Dawn Mondragon and husband Tom and Laura Jean Winters, all of Evans; a brother, Lawrence Osborne and wife Patricia of Alturas, Calif.; and two granddaughters, Andrea and Ashlynn Mondragon. Her parents are deceased.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1865 14th Ave., Greeley. Cremation.
Allnutt Funeral Service Macy Chapel, Greeley, is in charge of arrangements.
